Indra7’s ‘Dekonstruksi’ presents a fresh spin on iconic Indonesian band songs

Techno pundit and heavy metal enthusiast Indra7 has released his remix compilation, ‘Dekonstruksi’, in cassette format. The four-tracker debuted on Record Store Day 2024 (Saturday, April 20).

‘Dekonstruksi’ (Indonesian for “deconstruction”) presents Indra7’s reinterpretations of tracks from renowned local bands across various genres, from rock purists The Brandals to female metal trio Voice of Baceprot (VoB) who have been making waves globally.

Indra7's process of deconstructing and reconstructing each track is a captivating sonic journey, presenting a unique twist on each song's original version.

"The concept of this release documents all the remix works I have made for these bands in physical format (cassette), which previously were only released in digital form," he shares.

Among the highlights is his remix of Voice of Baceprot's ‘School Revolution’, which Indra7 mentions as “One of the most difficult songs I have ever remixed. When I was offered to work on this VoB remix project, I immediately said yes. ‘School Revolution’ succeeded in getting me out of my comfort zone as a remixer, and the results speak for themselves.”
