Yetsuby curates 32-strong mixed-genre VA for International Women’s Day

The 32-track VA titled ‘GEO’ dropped on March 8 via Seoul-based label and party collective The Internatiiional.

In addition to commemorating International Women's Day, the compilation also serves as a vibrant testament to the diverse spectrum of electronic music emerging from the heart of South Korea.

At the helm of this project is Yetsuby from Salamanda, who also holds the distinction of being the inaugural artist on The Internatiiional label.

Her latest EP ‘MY STAR MY PLANET MY EARTH’ recently won Best Electronic Album at the 2024 Korean Music Awards.

‘GEO’ transcends boundaries, genres, and traditional norms. Its 32 tracks, each crafted with care and passion, offer a kaleidoscopic journey through time, emotions, and sonic landscapes, ranging from lush, ambient soundscapes to the pulsating beats of breakcore, hyperpop and more.

Yetsuby’s ‘wat’ opens the compilation with all its glitchy glory and catchy, pitch-shifted vocals, while her Salamanda counterpart, Uman Therma, presents a cut that teeters between minimal and pop coloured with playful melodies and addicting breaks.

The two also contribute a number as Salamanda titled ‘Tulukana’ which offers an ambient journey through glistening electronic chimes.

Beyond the artistry, GEO carries a purpose-driven mission. All proceeds from the music sales on Bandcamp will be channelled towards Korea Women’s Hotline, an organisation dedicated to safeguarding and supporting women's rights against all forms of violence.
